

Fiumicino airport: the works on runway 3 of the Rome-Fiumicino's airport
Rome, Italy - They will last four months: sites have been opened during the night between Saturday and Sunday
(WAPA) - The works began during the night from last Saturday and Sunday on runway 3 of the Fiumicino's airport, regard the interventions on structural part of the tarmac strip, reconstruction of the surface and the re-conformation of lights.
All this will allow, a note by AdR (Aeroporti di Roma), management society for Rome's airports, declared, to "Improve in a significant manner, the overall employment of the runway 3 and to increase the capacity for landing and take off in the case of low visibility, passing from 10 to 28/30 air movements in a hour".
The works will last about four months and to ensure the airport's operativity, in collaboration with ENAV (Italian Flight Assistance Society) and ENAC (Italian Civil Aviation Authority), AdR in such period will use the auxiliary runway 16 (central/34 central) certified for landing and take off until 350 m, already used during the Jubilee.
Once made them, the works will improve the visibility in the case of fog. The economic effort by AdR will be EUR 10 million to testify "Further the effort by AdR for the quality of services delivered to passenger and, once the works completed, will allow to face the stable increases of traffic with major technical and organizational efficiency".
